I specialize in intensive trauma work, meeting 1-5 or more days, diving deep in to your story. My passion as a therapist is to help those I work with address the root issues, and provide as much relief as possible.
I have pursued a variety of post-graduate certifications and trainings to support those I work with in the most efficient and solution oriented manner. My heart as a professional is to custom create intensives for each person I work with, meeting with them at a location that best meets their needs, and with interventions custom to what they are aiming to address in our time together.
I have a "hands on" approach, and am not passive in how I provide care. I listen intently, provide feedback, dive in to insights, and give assignments when needed. My primary goal as an intensive therapist is to provide insight and value in our work, giving you access to tools and resources that help you find a meaningful recovery far beyond intensive work.
My approach is collaborative, transparent, and practical. I value talking with each client's primary therapist, recovery coach, former treatment center, family, or anyone that is beneficial in supporting intensive work. As a part of follow up care, I create a specific recommendation plan for those I work with, to continue supporting the work begun in intensive care. I'm passionate about helping my clients find tangible solutions and strategies for growth, and am committed to seeing growth and progress in all those I work with.
For intensives I utilize a variety of assessments, have homework assigned in preparation for our time together, and have chosen each element of intensive work with both intention and care. I utilize a blend of the following therapeutic models in intensives: Accelerated Resolution Therapy, EMDR, REBT, and NARM (NeuroAffective Relational Model).
My background: My entire professional career has been dedicated to the study of addiction and trauma recovery, and have worked as a primary therapist in private practice, IOP (Intensive Outpatient Programming), and PHP (Partial Hospitalization Programming) settings treating addiction. Over the years, I've collaborated with and visited many treatment centers for addiction and/or trauma work, and have provided both group and family therapy.
My therapeutic style is solution oriented, caring, appropriately direct, and value well timed humor :) Recovery work is hard, but isn't always stone-cold serious, so love to help you find healing and light hearted moments on your journey.
Other random facts about me: I love cabins, sitting by a good bonfire, and being in the woods (although I'm not a hiker, I'm a fan of a good cup of coffee with an incredible view). I am a mom of two kiddos, and have been married for over a decade to my husband John. We have two adorable but dramatic Cavapoos (dogs), and a sweet golden retriever who definitely are spoiled!
